Studio Presentation #24

March 29, 2013 | Old Post Office at the Munnekeholm, Groningen

Two choreographers and an artist/musician present work- in-process on which they would like to get some feedback from you. Leo Lerus presents the results of three weeks working in Groningen on his piece for the Trilogy Project, Ingrid Berger Myhre would like to encourage continuity in her research and Kasper van Hoek presents his own blend of improvised electronic music played on his own custom-built string instruments. After each presentation, creators and audiences get the time to exchange ideas with each other.

Léo Lerus – Vaval (work in progress)

Léo Lerus is the last of the three Trilogy Project choreographers to come to Groningen. He was born in Guadeloupe where he started dancing. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris and worked professionally in various companies such as Skånes Dansteater, Carte Blanche Company, Random Dance Company, and the Batsheva Dance Company. From 2008 till 2011, Léo was a member of Maria Kong Dancers Company in Israel as a co-founder, creator and dancer. Today Leo is a freelance choreographer based in Israel. Léo will be here working on Vaval and teaching movement research classes until April 19.

Ingrid Berger Myhre – Pieces of Cake

Ingrid Berger Myhre (Oslo, 1987) studied at Laban (London) and graduated in 2010 from the Moderne Theater Dans department at AHK in Amsterdam. The recent years she is active as performer and collaborator in various contexts in Holland/Slovenia and abroad, with her own work rapidly accumulating in responds to those engagements. Her research deals with the attempt of creating affect; first within the performers own body, therefore also in other bodies. She wants to present her work at Random Collision as a way to encourage continuity in the otherwise scattered trajectory of the research, and for this reason she is grateful for any response and thoughts that can contribute to helping the work move forward.

Kasper van Hoek
Kasper van Hoek (The Hague, 1982) started his musical activities in 2003 making heavily processed field recordings. Over the course of some 30+ releases and 90+ performances featuring looped electronic music, noise, musique concrete and ambient he now creates his own blend of improvised electronic music played on his own custom-built string instruments. In his music own made instruments and self created music software keep each other in balance – now for quite a long time. Kasper wants to go a step forward wants to change something from both sides and asks from you to think with him about how to do this.
